FREE Ways to Decorate for Fall

Fall is upon us! And I’m SO here for all the chunky sweaters, hot decaf PSL’s, and chilly nights…

Okay, okay — I do live in Florida so maybe I can’t participate in all of the fall festivities just yet, BUT I do look forward to adding some fall decor to my home every September. Many of us love to decorate for the autumn season, adding warmth to our home and excitement to the season. But if you’re tight on money, it’s safe to say it can be more stressful than exciting.

No worries, friend! I’m here to tell you that bringing fall into your home doesn’t need to be expensive! In fact, it can be completely free. AND by foregoing the “happy fall ya’ll” and pumpkin throw pillows, and instead incorporating natural, organic decor, your home will look high end & tasteful while still celebrating the autumn season!

  1. Change Out the Items in Your Entryway

Pay attention to the colors in your entryway and switch out your coats, hats, and colors for a fall theme. Grab a chunky knit sweater, a fun fall pattern, and a basket and hang them up. This way you’ll be met with a fall welcome as soon as you enter in!

2. Decorate With Dead Branches

Almost all of the flowers, greenery, or branches you’d find in my house are from my own backyard or even from my neighbors’ throw away piles!

Go on a walk around your neighborhood and pick up branches that feel like fall! They’ll make a great accent to your home.

3. Print Vintage Fall Scene Printables

Find free non-cheesy online printables to put into some old frames. This will bring warmth and art into your home and is the perfect touch for fall!

3. Collect Fall Fabric for Layering

The best part of fall is the LAYERS! You know those brown quilts, curtains, and old table cloths you have in the back of your closet? It’s time for them to break out!

Use different fall colors and textures to use as throws or tablecloths. In this photo I used an old mustard curtain from Ikea and used it as a throw for our bed.

3. Use Real Greenery Mixed With Your Fake Plants

Do you have old fake plants laying around that look cheap?

Spice up the look with REAL greenery to make your plants look more full & real. I matched this red fake berry plant with a real branch from my backyard to add to the look!

5. Collect Pine Cones to Scatter Around Your Home

Send your kiddos out to the backyard to collect pinecones! Add them around your house for a touch of autumn on your book shelves, centerpiece, and more. This is a fun scavenger hunt for the kids and brings cute fall look to your home!

6. Hot Glue Acorns to Your Wreath

Don’t want to buy a new wreath? No problem! Hot glue in acorns, dead leaves (sprayed with a bit of hairspray), or pieces of pine cones. It suddenly makes your summer wreath

feel fall-esque!
